Three months after moving into my new residence (an extremely well-built/well-maintained 30-year-old home), I received a phone call from the water company informing me that I was using 85 gallons of water an HOUR and had used over 23,000 gallons of water during the past three weeks. This information was mind-boggling, especially since I had only used my sprinkler system a few times and had not seen/heard anything indicative of a leak.
I immediately called the plumbing company I had relied upon for years, one reputed to be one of the top plumbing companies in Savannah. After checking all toilets, water heaters, walking around my house, and checking my sprinkler system (I assume as I told them I had one), they told me that I could pay around $500 to have them use their leak detector that day, or I could schedule one of their team to come by to sign a contract for RE-piping the entire house--which would involve removing walls in 4 bathrooms,/kitchen/laundry room and flooring in varied areas as well and would be extremely pricey. Of course, I would be responsible for all clean-up, rehanging of sheetrock, flooring repairs, painting, etc.--another large expense. I paid them $250+ for their visit before they left.
Determined not to do anything else without seeking another opinion, I called Tomeko Farrior with SAVANNAH LANDSCAPING, whom I had just met the prior week when he came to inspect my sprinkler system and show me how to use it. Tomeko impressed me, from the beginning, with his quick response, expertise, and pleasant manner.
Not only did Tomeko respond quickly to my call-of-distress, but he assured me he would come right away and that once on site, he WOULD find the source of my expansive leak. And he did...in less than FIVE minutes he detected it right away right outside my kitchen door, an area which the two plumbers had walked through just a short time earlier.
Within a short period of time, Tomeko had completely stopped the leak, which had almost made that area of my lawn look like a small swamp by the time he arrived a few hours after the plumbers left.
I will not be using those plumbers again, but I will definitely be calling Tomeko again for any irrigation or landscaping need I might have. And I have already hisghly recommended him to numerous friends and neighbors as well. I simply can't praise his work ethic, expertise in his field, and genuin concern for his clients' needs highly enough.
