As with any question besides math they are always two answers. We often receive request to install rocks inside plant beds from our landscaping clients. For residential properties most of the time I advise against it. Of course we will always provide the requested services to any client (as long as it to our/industry standards), its just my job to bring my experience with dealing with landscaping everyday since 2009 into the discussion/consultation.

Rocks

The Landscape Rocks!

Yes in general rocks would be the best product for any plant bed, but “in general” is just that. With every property comes different factors and misconceptions.

The first is that once a client install rocks they no longer have to do the beds again and they will look the same. This is not true rocks will need to be refreshed over time due to debris build up even with regular blowing.
Will kids be playing in the lawn? If so more than likely, they will play with the rocks and leave the inside the lawn. This can become a hazard when kicked up while mowing.

We just ask clients to remember nothing can be used in plant beds that will eliminate maintenance.

Yes, Rocks will last and look beautiful for years to come and with the different varieties the use of rocks in the right space can really enhance the look and feel. You can also read our tips on maintaining rocks plant beds.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Relieved to have found a landscaping company that was not only responsive, but prompt to complete the job. The owner was personable and honest. Approximately 5 months after the purchasing of my new home, hurricane Irene hit and caused a large amount of water to flow into the part of the house that sits lower. SLS recommended installing a French drain. The installation required cutting through the cement pavement and digging approximately 300 feet to the lowest part of the yard. The installation was started within a week of receiving the quote. The entire job took less than 48 hours to complete. Once the grass regrows, I am sure you won't even be able to tell where it was installed. Anxious to see the effectiveness of the French drain after a big rain storm.

I also had questions about mulch versus pine needles, and had issues with making a payment through their website. The owner was very accommodating and added the cost to the original quote instead. The pine needles were delivered and installed at the completion of the original job.

I have a couple of other projects in mind and will definitely be reaching out in the future.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Thank you for installing the channel drain. Last Friday night almost 3" of rain fell in a short period of time and while the drain was overwhelmed, and the water rose alarmingly close to the bottom of my courtyard door, it did not overwhelm the threshold. When the rain slowed for a bit, the water drained enough so that when it came roaring back the level was close enough to the ground that it wasn't in danger of breaching again. Without that drain my house would have flooded. Thank you for your good work.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Tomeco has been absolutely amazing! Last year he installed French drains on our property because we were dealing with major flooding. Every time it rained the yard was out of commission for a week… now by the next day the yard it’s dried out. It’s so nice to be able to enjoy our yard again. Recently I needed some repairs done to my irrigation system and I called him up he came out quickly and helped me out for a very reasonable price. Responsive, honest, knowledgeable and fair! Highly recommend!
